Who is Jesus?

Who is Jesus?  This is the most important question you will ever answer.

Is He just a…decent man? …dedicated teacher? …determined prophet? …delusional lunatic?  Or is He something more?  The Apostle John, in his Gospel, makes an astounding declaration concerning Jesus.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…All things were created through Him…The Word became flesh and took up residence among us.  We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.  (John 1:1,3a,14)

For John, Jesus is God, in the flesh!

To prove his belief, John organized his gospel account of Jesus’ life around seven attesting miracles (or signs).  It is these seven signs which are examined in the section of this blog entitled: 7 Signs of the Savior (see Contents page).

John also recorded seven times Jesus described Himself using statements beginning with “I Am.”  Each of these tells us much about Jesus, and what benefits He offers to His followers.  These are explored in the section of this blog entitled: 7 “I Am” Statements of Jesus (see Contents page).

John included seven witnesses to Jesus as well.  If the word or two or three witnesses was enough to convict someone of a serious crime (under Old Testament law), then certainly seven witnesses are more than enough to verify Jesus is who He claimed.  These seven witnesses are explored in the section of this blog entitled: 7 Witnesses to the Savior (see Contents page).

John had a divine purpose in mind when writing his gospel.  It was not organized haphazardly; nor was the content just thrown together.  But rather, inspired by the Holy Spirit, John carefully crafted his account of Jesus’ life so that others could be eternally impacted.  Read his purpose in his own words:

Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples that are not written in this book.  But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life in His name.  (John 20:30-31)

So that readers of John’s gospel may believe in Jesus; and believing, may have life!  Explore the Gospel of John.  Read the 7 Signs of the Savior, the 7 “I Am” Statements of Jesus and the 7 Witnesses to the Savior.

Believe in Jesus.  Have life; real, abundant life here and eternal life with Him, hereafter!
